HOW TO USE OPTIMATE 2 DUO

1. Included Accessories

O-04 Battery Clips

Used to connect directly to the two terminals of the battery. You can charge while the battery is still installed on the vehicle (just open the cover/seat to expose the terminals) or remove the battery if preferred.

O-01 Battery Lead

Permanently installed on the battery to create a quick charging point on the vehicle. For subsequent charges, simply plug the charger into the O-01 connector without having to access the battery terminals directly. This is very convenient for periodic charging or maintaining the battery when the vehicle is used infrequently or on models where the battery is difficult to access.

2. How to Charge Properly

Step 1 – Plug the charger into an AC power outlet (100–240V)

Step 2 – Connect the OptiMate 2 to the battery

  • Charging with O-04 battery clips: Attach the red clip to the positive terminal (+) and the black clip to the negative terminal (–).
  • Charging with O-01 battery lead: Plug the SAE connector directly (see the O-01 installation guide here).

Step 3 – Automatic Charging and Maintenance

The OptiMate 2 DUO will automatically identify the battery type (Lead-acid or Lithium LFP) and adjust the current/voltage accordingly to begin the charging process.
When the battery is fully charged, the charger automatically switches to maintenance mode, making it safe to keep it connected overnight without the risk of overcharging.

3. Meaning of the LED Indicators on the OptiMate 2 DUO

LED #1 (green):

Indicates that the charger is connected to AC power and is in standby mode.

LED #2 (red):

  • Warns of reversed polarity or a battery issue.
  • In this case, you need to disconnect the charger, then check and reconnect correctly: Red to the positive terminal (+), black to the negative terminal (–)

LED #3 (yellow):

The battery is in the charging process.

  • If the battery is too weak or deeply discharged, the OptiMate will automatically activate a low-voltage recovery mode before switching to normal charging.
  • If the battery is healthy, the device will charge it directly with the optimal current.

LED #4 (green):

  • The battery is fully charged and the charger has switched to 24/7 maintenance mode.
  • The device keeps the voltage stable and automatically adds a small amount of current when necessary to maintain the battery in optimal condition without overcharging or causing damage.
  • Safe to keep connected long-term or overnight.
